Born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, lifestyle, portrait and fashion photographer Nick Garcia has been surrounded by photography, cameras, lenses and a sensitivity to art his whole life. He began his training with his father, renowned Colombian photographer Enrique Garcia.  Garcia, based in Miami with his BlindLight Studio, has become a favorite among editors and creatives for his ability to understand the intricacies of powerful images. His passion for both architecture and fashion give him a signature edge for image composition.

Recently, the Shelborne, one of South Beach's most historic heritage properties,  revived its glamorous legacy by re-opening as Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach following a $280 million restoration and renovation. The property management hired Garcia and his production team to capture lifestyle images depicting an inspired 1950s elegance with luxury finishes of the new Hotel. They trusted Garcia’s style vision and his experience with environmental photographyto achieve their goals.

The 12-people photo-production team was led by Miami’s fashion expert John Santos andLeonardo Rocco with his hair and makeup team. The styling had to be impeccable, so a lot of preproduction and meticulous planning had to be done in preparation forthe shoot. For a perfect look, models from Wilhelminaand Mega Models worked hand in hand with the production team as well, The team also joined forces with Kenny O’Brien’s Filmiko video crew to capture b-roll of the talent and deliver a three minute clip. Working with the video crew at the same time was a challenging task for Garcia, as the lifestyle shots had to be captured in different areas throughout the large property. To work effectively, Garcia
chose to work with Arri Fresnel L7-C LED lights so his lighting could be controlled andmoved and color correctedquickly. Working this way, the lights are not as hot and both the photographer and videographer can shootand move them without waiting for cool down.  Also.  with the Arri Fresnel LEDs,  Garciawas able to set the colors instantly without gels to achieve the stylish tone and moodhe was after. The end result was captivating and the Shelborne Hotelproperty is currently using the imagery for their national and international print and PR campaigns.
